AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)05/18 Report--
Sales in China's auto market have fallen for 11 months in a row, with independent brands falling the most, and a number of joint venture brands are not immune. Skoda is a passenger car brand in China that focuses on the middle and lower end of the market to distinguish it from Volkswagen brands, but the latest sales figures reveal a big retrogression in the joint venture brand.
Skoda released its global sales figures for April. Skoda's global sales reached 95900 in April, down 10.5 per cent from a year earlier. According to global statistics, only Krook model sales increased year-on-year, up 19.8% to 12000 vehicles, while other models, including Kodiak, fell.
Skoda has grown to varying degrees in most regional markets, but the Chinese market has fallen by more than 40%.
In the Chinese market, Skoda's sales have been declining due to the downward impact of the car market. In April 2019, Skoda sold 16600 new cars, down 40.8% from a year earlier; from January to April 2019, Skoda sold a total of 80900 new cars in China, down 24.4% from a year earlier.
At present, SAIC Skoda is selling about 10 models, but there are no real big sales or hot sales in the market.
In the SAIC Skoda 4S store door, once played "understand the masses, all buy Skoda", now Volkswagen sales have also declined, Skoda's decline is even worse. With the intensification of market competition and the continuous decline of new car sales, the reshuffle of the automobile industry has also begun.
