According to Volkswagen's official sales report for April 2019, Volkswagen sold 866000 new cars worldwide in April, down 6.6 per cent from a year earlier. Due to the depressed market environment, Volkswagen Group sales have declined in all regions.

According to the data, Volkswagen Group's cumulative global sales from January to April 2019 were 3.472 million vehicles, down 3.7 per cent from the same period last year. Volkswagen Group sold 303000 vehicles in China (including Hong Kong) in April, down 9.6 per cent from the same period last year to 1.345 million vehicles from January to April, down 7.2 per cent from a year earlier.

In the European market, Volkswagen Group sold 395000 vehicles in April, down 2% from a year earlier. In January-April, Volkswagen sold 1.55 million vehicles, basically unchanged from the same period last year. Germany, the Volkswagen group's home market, sold 120000 vehicles in April, down 6.3 per cent from a year earlier, down 6.3 per cent from January to April to 455000, down 0.1 per cent from a year earlier.

Among them, Russia in Central and Eastern Europe and Brazil in South America are on the rise. Volkswagen sold 20, 000 vehicles in Russia in April, up 7 per cent year-on-year to 68000 from January to April, up 5.2 per cent from a year earlier. Volkswagen Group has done well in Brazil, with cumulative sales of 37000 vehicles in April, up 8.3% from January to April to 131000 vehicles, a double-digit increase of 21.4% from January to April.

According to the brand data of Volkswagen Group, Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and Mann all showed a downward trend, among which Audi and Skoda showed a double-digit decline. Porsche stopped its downward trend in previous months, rising 11.2% in April.

Volkswagen Group believes that the future market is still relatively optimistic, and said it will launch several key new models this year to improve this year's sales performance.
