The Tokyo district attorney's office arrested Ghosn several times before submitting the indictment. Faced with the accusations that Ghosn spent 130 days in prison, the former Nissan executive called it a biased and distorted portrayal of him as a greedy dictator.

A spokesman for Nissan declined to comment on the trial, saying that Nissan's focus at this stage is to stabilize its operation and strengthen its management structure.
