AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)05/24 Report--

After the "emission gate" scandals broke out one after another in Volkswagen, GM and BMW in the past two years, some German procuratorates pointed out that it was due to the use of diesel engine emission control software provided by Bosch, which involved a total of 42 million diesel vehicles produced by Volkswagen, so Bosch had a significant relationship with the "emission gate" incident.

In the latest development in the recent "emission gate" incident, prosecutors in Stuttgart, Germany, said that auto parts supplier Bosch has agreed to pay a fine of 90 million euros ($102.1 million). The reason is that poor regulation has led automakers to engage in emissions fraud. German prosecutors say the diesel emissions cheating scandal in the auto industry has been made possible with the help of Bosch technology. Automakers use engine management and control software in tests to reduce pollution levels in the real world.

Bosch, the world's largest car supplier, delivered about 17 million pieces of technical equipment equipped with engine management software to major carmakers, German prosecutors said in a statement. Bosch has accepted the fine and will not appeal the decision, the statement said.

As the world's largest automotive technology supplier, Bosch's auto parts division has cooperated with nearly 100 mainframe factories around the world, including Chinese auto companies. According to the data, Bosch's sales rose 1.5% to 77.9 billion euros in 2018, of which the sales of the automotive division was 47 billion euros, contributing 60% of the company's sales.

In fact, this is not the first time Bosch has been involved in the "emission gate" incident. In 2017, Bosch was fined about 2.2 billion yuan for providing Volkswagen with diesel emissions cheating software called "EDC-17" to compensate the owners of Volkswagen diesel cars in the United States. Although Bosch agreed to pay compensation, it made it clear that it refused to bear legal liability.
