AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)05/25 Report--
Nissan Motor Corp. (Nissan Motor Co.) plans to build a crash test center on the outskirts of Detroit with an investment of $41 million and 25 jobs.
Nissan's last North American facility investment was in August 2018 in two car assembly plants in Smyrna, Tennessee and Canton, Missouri, totaling $170 million (RMB 1.159 billion) to support the production of the new 2019 Nissan Altima (North American version of Teana).
Nissan North American spokesman Chris Keefe said that Nissan North America is conducting a "final stage of internal review" at the Farmington Hills technical testing center northwest of Detroit, Michigan. With the company's approval, construction will begin as early as this summer and will take 18 months to complete.
"We are constantly advancing research and development," Keefe said. "We think this is a good thing because the new impact testing center will be equipped with more R & D centers and will become the most cutting-edge R & D center.
The center has 1200 employees and is the main R & D park of the North American Development Center. In 2002, the technology center spent US $38.8 million, expanded 90000 square feet and created 260 new jobs.
According to the Hometown Life website, the city of Farmington Hills is supporting the proposed facility exemption certificate for the expansion project, which will achieve a tax credit of US $1.9 million over six years.
Keeffe said that if executives give approval, the company will provide more details of the project.
