Samsung, one of the suppliers of Volkswagen's 50 billion-euro battery procurement program, initially agreed to provide the public with 20 gigawatts of electric car batteries, enough to allow Volkswagen to mass produce 200000 electric vehicles equipped with 100kwh battery packs. However, during the specific negotiations, Volkswagen and Samsung had different views on battery production and timetable, a stalemate that led Samsung to reduce the number of electric car batteries it promised to supply to Volkswagen to less than 5 gigawatts, according to sources.

We know that automakers need a stable battery supply to produce electric vehicles on a large scale. However, due to the limited battery capacity, unstable supply and limited raw materials, batteries have naturally become a major problem for global electric vehicle manufacturers. Volkswagen hopes to increase the annual production of electric vehicles to 3 million vehicles by 2025, which may be difficult to achieve without the support of several powerful battery suppliers.
