AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)05/31 Report--
According to foreign media reports, Cadillac recently launched the new CT5V high-performance model and the family's smallest CT4V model. The history of Cadillac's official foray into high-performance brands is coming late with Europe's three BBA brands. But it is not inferior to its German rivals in all respects. The high-performance brand of V series was established in 2004. It is developed by GM's high-performance vehicle operations.
Founded in the 1960s with a technology center in Detroit, the department initially provided technical support to the Chevrolet Camaro team participating in Trans-Am racing, and later gradually developed into an integrated department responsible for developing high-performance new cars of GM brands, selling high-performance accessories and providing technical support for a variety of auto races. The person in charge of the department is John Haines, who is inextricably linked to Cadillac's V-series, and Cadillac's first high-performance model, the CTS-V, was developed under the guidance of him as chief engineer.
In 2004, Cadillac set up its own V-Series, and in 2009, it officially established its own event festival V day. The CT4V model unveiled yesterday is the smallest of the Cadillac V series, while the CT4 replaces the old ATS model. The CT4 will be produced in Michigan in 2020.
CT4V still uses the Cadillac family design, the appearance uses the diamond cutting design inspiration, has the angular design in the whole vehicle appearance, the front face uses the Cadillac family shield design and the trapezoidal air intake below, the shape is very athletic. The waistline of the car runs through the whole vehicle model, and the shield design of the rear part of the whole vehicle appears to be more three-dimensional. The new car is based on the rear-drive Alpha architecture. On the power side, it is equipped with a newly developed 2.7-liter in-line four-cylinder turbocharged engine from Cadillac using direct injection technology and a design with three camshafts, with a maximum power of 330 horsepower and a peak torque of 500 Nm. It matches a 10-speed manual self-integrated gearbox, the new rear-drive model is equipped with limited slip differential, and four-wheel drive system is optional.
For V-series models, we have noticed in many reports that they are generally limited to 1000 units, such as the previous ATSV champion models and CTSV champion models, each with a limit of 200. for a high-performance sports brand, a limit of 200units is very rare and noble, but in fact, these models are very unpopular with consumers. The limited edition of ATSV models sold from Cadillac in Japan is only 5 units. It can be seen that the acceptance of Cadillac in Japan is really low. Cadillac has withdrawn from the local market in Europe. This is a far cry from GM's determination to turn Cadillac into a global luxury brand.
And back home Cadillac has been the pillar of second-tier luxury brands, but also become GM's domestic sales trump card. Cadillac has ATSL,XTS,CT6 XT5,XT4 and other models on sale in China. But in May, the ATSL model was announced to stop production, and 4S stores also sold 150000 of the ATSL models that could be bought in stock by Guo Wuqing.
What makes consumers embarrassed is that the seemingly high-quality and inexpensive models actually have high fuel consumption, too many glitches, low value preservation rate and so on. In April, only 3877 ATSL models were sold, accounting for 22.83% of GM's Cadillac sales and ranked 13th among midsize car sales. In April, Cadillac ATS-L sales fell 26.32% from a year earlier, up 47.02% from a month earlier; in the last 12 months, Cadillac ATS-L sales peaked at 5759 in November 2018.
