AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)02/25 Report--

According to the latest news on the 25th, China's largest ride-hailing company and Volkswagen, the world's largest carmaker, have set up a joint venture in China, registered as "Shanghai Orange Public Automotive Technology Co., Ltd." with a registered capital of 64 million yuan.

The company has two shareholders, 40% of Volkswagen (China) Investment Co., Ltd., and 60% of Huidi (Tianjin) Business Services Co., Ltd., which is closely related to Didi. At the same time, the legal representative of Orange Motor is Yang Jun, vice president of DiDi.

According to foreign media reports last year, Volkswagen Group held talks with DiDi on the establishment of a joint venture company. Volkswagen Group may manage some of DiDi's fleet, and sources say it will initially manage 100000 vehicles. In addition, the two sides jointly develop a special car-hailing model, and the ultimate goal is to use self-driving vehicles.

Su Weiming, executive vice president of Volkswagen China, also said, "the joint venture with Didi is not just online car hailing, we hope to try more projects, as well as self-driving taxi operation."

Now that the joint venture between the two sides has come out, the traditional automakers are facing the problem of transformation, and the investment in new energy and shared travel will account for a large proportion in the future. Volkswagen is the largest car brand in China by sales. It took the lead in operating related businesses in cooperation with DiDi, which to a certain extent reflects its current situation of continuing to consolidate its position in the Chinese market.
