China is currently the largest producer and marketer of new energy vehicles in the world. By the end of 2018, the number of new energy vehicles in China has reached 2.61 million, accounting for 1.09% of the total. According to statistics, the number of new energy vehicles has increased by an average of 500000 per year in the past five years, showing a trend of accelerated growth.
Although there is a very large upward trend in China every year, compared with new energy and new cars, the second-hand market of new energy is not so considerable. Even little or no second-hand car dealers have access to the used new energy vehicle market.
Prior to this, the detailed data report released by the China Circulation Association showed that the value preservation rate of three-year-old new energy used cars had changed to varying degrees in the first two months.
The value preservation rate of three-year-old plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) fell to 46% from 47.5% in April, while the value preservation rate of three-year-old pure electric vehicles (EV) rose to 32.4% from 28.8% in April, an increase of 5 percentage points. Although it is an ebb and flow relationship, the overall value preservation rate of plug-in hybrid models is still higher than that of pure electric models.
According to the current level with the highest preservation rate of pure electric value, 200000 of new cars cost only 50,000 to 60,000 after three years of use. This discount rate often gives up the idea of car owners selling their cars. After all, they sell cars worth only NT $50, 000 or NT $60, 000 and continue to drive cars that are still 200000. This will also lead to a vicious circle.
After formally abolishing the national subsidy for new energy vehicles in March this year, it means that the real price of new energy vehicles has risen. In this context, lower-cost miniature electric vehicles will once again attract attention.
From each specific model point of view, the highest preservation rate is Tesla's Model S of 60.1%, but with the launch of Model 3 and the upcoming upgrading of Model S, the preservation rate has also declined. The second is BYD Tang DM, with a preservation rate of 50.6%, and the last is Jianghuai's iEV, with only 19.8%.
At present, there is no relatively complete new energy second-hand evaluation and trading system in China, so new energy second-hand vehicles are still lack of trading channels, which is also the main factor leading to the low preservation rate of new energy vehicles.
