The National passenger car Market Information Association released the national vehicle sales ranking in May, in which the number of narrow passenger vehicles (sedans + SUV+MPV) sold in May was 94000, up 1.6% from the same period last year and 9.5% from the previous month. The cumulative sales of new energy models in the first five months of 19 years were 428000, up 56.3% from the same period last year.

From the ranking of new energy model sales in May, we can see that most of them are independent brand models, while only one joint venture brand model is shortlisted.

Among them, BAIC EU series surged back to the top of the list, with a total sales of 7079 vehicles in May, an increase of 761 per cent year-on-year.

Last month, champion BYD Yuan EV fell back in the rankings, ranking second with sales of 6044 vehicles in May. In addition to BYD Yuan EV, BYD has two other models on the list, of which BYD E5 ranked ninth with 3144 vehicles, down 14.8 per cent from the same period last year, while BYD Qin proEV ranked 10th with 2936 vehicles, up 195.7 per cent from the same period last year.

Roewe Ei5 sold 5487 vehicles in may, up 83% from a year earlier, beating Jianghuai IEV6E in third place. The Roewe Ei5 can be said to be the main sales force of Roewe brand models, and its sales have increased significantly after the official battery life upgrade in January.

Jianghuai iEV6E sold 4505 vehicles in May, an increase of 80% over the same period last year. The Jianghuai iEV series, the long-winning general of last year, is now on the list again, which is a great surprise, while JAC iEV6E ranks fourth with a single model and its performance is quite eye-catching.

Chery eQ and Euler R1 both made the list, winning fifth and sixth places on the list for their small and cute appearance and relatively good mileage. Sales in May were 3818 and 3790 respectively. Dihao EV ranked seventh with sales of 3348 vehicles in May, down 6.1 per cent from a year earlier.

It is worth mentioning that the Passat PHEV is the only joint venture brand in the top 10 in May, with sales of 3293 vehicles in May, ranking eighth.

With the decline of related subsidies, the sales of new energy models also have a certain impact, the monthly year-on-year growth rate has a significant downward trend.
