AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)06/13 Report--
According to foreign media reports, Ford said it would recall nearly 1.2 million Explorer sports utility vehicles (SUV) in the United States because of a defect in the suspension system that may lead to a decline in steering control.
Ford said the recall included explorers manufactured in the 2011-2017 models that could break the toe chain of the rear suspension, increasing the risk of a crash.
In addition, one Ford user reported that his toe chain was broken and hit the side of the road, but there were no reports of injuries.
Ford said its North American operations would bear $180 million in repair costs in the second quarter. The company said it continued to expect adjusted EBIT for the whole of this year to continue to be higher than in 2018.
