On January 7 this year, Tesla's first overseas super factory officially began construction in China's Shanghai Lingang Industrial Zone. Tesla's Shanghai super factory will integrate R & D, manufacturing, sales and other functions. Tesla's Shanghai super factory project has a total investment of 50 billion yuan, with an investment of 16 billion yuan in the first phase, and an assembly production line will be built in the initial stage, so as to realize Tesla's "domestic" as soon as possible. According to the plan, Tesla's Shanghai factory will not be able to complete the initial construction until the end of this year and begin to produce domestic Model 3 models by the end of the year. At the initial stage after the completion of the plant, it can produce about 3000 Tesla Model 3 per week, and the first phase of the plant has an annual production capacity of 250000 vehicles.

Musk also said that local production in China will help speed up the delivery of new cars and effectively improve the company's capital operation efficiency. The plant's annual production capacity of 500000 vehicles is only an initial target, and the entire super-factory construction project may have a capacity of more than 1 million vehicles. Given the recent trade disputes between China and the United States, setting up a factory in China and putting into production will also allow Tesla to avoid tax risks in the face of trade tensions. Judging from Tesla's existing financial pressure, the situation of continuing to build factories and expand production capacity in other parts of the country may not be realized too soon, but Musk's seemingly playful words such as "building a factory in China" or "sending Tesla into space" have been realized one by one now.

In May this year, Tesla China's official website also officially began to accept orders for domestic Model 3 models. According to Tesla's official website, the advance deposit for the model is 20, 000 yuan, and the mileage of [Model 3 standard life upgrade (Tesla China)] is predicted to be about 460km. It only takes 5.6 seconds to accelerate from static state to 100km/h, with a speed of up to 225km / h.
