AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)06/13 Report--

Mercedes-Benz officially released its global sales figures for May, which showed that the Mercedes-Benz brand sold 195690 vehicles worldwide in May, largely due to the good performance of the new A-Class and CLA Coupe models, which went on sale in Europe last month. But total global sales of the Mercedes-Benz brand fell 1.3% in May from a year earlier, mainly due to weak sales of SUV models. In the first five months of 1919, the Mercedes-Benz brand sold 938499 vehicles worldwide, down 4.7 per cent from the same period last year.

For the Smart brand, global sales in May were 11466, down 1.2 per cent from a year earlier, but there was a 33.4 per cent increase in the German market, while global cumulative sales of the Smart brand in the first five months of 19 years were 50087, down 4.5 per cent from a year earlier.

In terms of sales in China, Mercedes-Benz (including smart) sold 55589 vehicles in May, down 0.9% from a year earlier, the first decline in sales in a single month in 2019. In the first five months of 1919, a total of 287639 vehicles were sold in China, an increase of 1.6% over the same period last year, ranking first in the domestic luxury car market. On the other hand, Mercedes-Benz grew by 1.9% in May 19 years ago, compared with 16.7% in 18 years. In addition to the impact of vehicle upgrading, this year's numerous negative news is also one of the factors.

In terms of model sales, the domestic car camp of Beijing Mercedes-Benz has maintained good growth in the first five months of 19 years. The new domestic Class A has a cumulative sales increase of nearly 20, 000 compared with the old model, while the domestic Class E leads the market with cumulative sales of 65619 vehicles and 55412 GLC L vehicles, respectively. Thus it can be seen that most domestic models have become the backbone of Mercedes-Benz sales in China.

2019 is the "year of SUV" of Mercedes-Benz. In addition to the launch of the new GLE at the Shanghai Auto Show, Mercedes-Benz will also launch a series of SUV models such as the mid-term revamped GLC L and its first pure electric model, EQC, in the second half of the year, which will undoubtedly stimulate Mercedes-Benz sales in the second half of the year.
