The cumulative sales in the first five months were 872367, up 1.6% from the same period last year. The steady growth of BMW's performance depends on the support of its various SUV models. The BMW 5-Series topped the list of high-end car sales in May 2019, with monthly sales of 13671 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 15.4 percent, leaving Mercedes-Benz C-Class and E-Class behind with an advantage of more than 1,000 vehicles, according to the China Federation of passengers. Among them, BMW X3 sales in China are also outstanding, with monthly sales of 10809 vehicles in May, ranking second in high-end SUV models, with a year-on-year increase of 22418.8%.

"the increase in BMW sales in May and gaining more market share benefited from the release of new models, particularly the overall sales growth of the BMW X series, and the 40 per cent increase in BMW i3 sales also contributed to the overall sales growth of the BMW group," said Peter Noda, a director of BMW Group.

Despite continued competition and a volatile global market environment, BMW expects sales growth in 2019. BMW said it would continue to give priority to profitability over sales.
