AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)06/13 Report--

As a technology company, the core of Huawei is Internet technology. With the advent of 5G, people are now considering the application of 5G in daily life, in which 5G and cars have become one of the most important.

Although Ren Zhengfei said publicly before, "We will never build cars", but this does not mean that Huawei will not be involved in the auto industry, Huawei will use 5G as a cut to stop self-driving cars. He went on to say that what Huawei wants to do is "the module of the car network, the electronic part of the car". We have to cooperate with the car, the car uses our module to enter the autopilot. I would never build a car. Therefore, we will not cross the border, we have boundaries, electronic flow as the center of the field, non-this field will be cut. In other words, Huawei wants to accelerate the car.

Dang Wenshuan, Huawei's chief strategic architect, told foreign media that Huawei is working with domestic, European and Japanese automakers to provide artificial intelligence support to Audi, Guangzhou Auto Toyota, Beijing New Energy and Changan Automobile. According to him, Huawei is working with other manufacturers to develop a car with self-driving parts, which will be shipped in 2021 or 2022, not limited to China, and will be introduced to the European market.

In a video shown to the Financial Times by Huawei, an Audi car is seen driving on the streets of Shanghai, obeying traffic signals and avoiding pedestrians and motorcycles in a seemingly uncontrolled environment. Although there is a security officer sitting in the driver's seat, he does not touch or control the steering wheel.

The coming self-driving car obtains road condition information through sensors, lidar and other equipment, and the central computing system in the car processes these information, and then controls the direction and speed of the self-driving car. According to the different degree of automation, the International Association of Automotive Engineers (SAE) divides self-driving cars into six levels from L0 to L5, of which L5 is the highest level. self-driving cars that reach this level basically do not need human participation in control, second only to L5 is L4. Self-driving cars at this level also have a high degree of self-driving ability, and only in a small number of cases do they need human participation.

Currently, manufacturers such as Huawei are focusing on self-driving of the L4, such as the Audi prototype in the video. In addition to Huawei, several Chinese Internet companies, including Alibaba, Tencent and Baidu, are also developing self-driving cars with different partners.

Huawei expects China's mass market to push domestic manufacturers forward after the launch of self-driving cars in 2021.

As a hot spot in the automobile industry in recent years and an area favored by Apple, Google and other companies, the self-driving industry also contains huge business opportunities and will have a good momentum of growth. According to the research company Allied Market Research, the global self-driving car market will reach 54.23 billion US dollars this year and 556.67 billion US dollars in 2026.
