AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)06/15 Report--

DPCA has seen a sharp decline since last year, with annual sales of only 253400 vehicles, while the downward trend this year is still very obvious.

In May 2019, a total of 1.5612 million passenger cars were sold nationwide, down 17.37% from the same period last year. From January to May, a total of 8.3987 million passenger cars were sold, down 15.17% from the same period last year. According to the country, only 9800 cars were sold in May, accounting for 0.63% of the total passenger car sales, the lowest in a decade.

As a representative of French cars, Peugeot Citroen (hereinafter referred to as PSA) joint venture Citroen in China, Dongfeng Citroen and Dongfeng Peugeot sold only 8698 vehicles in May, down 66 per cent from a year earlier. This is also the tenth consecutive month of year-on-year decline in sales of DPCA since August 2018.

However, the unfavorable automobile market environment is not an excuse for the continued low sales of DPCA. DPCA has many problems, such as the high number of complaints, frequent product recalls, a large number of dealers withdrawing from the net, frequent personnel changes and so on.

At the recent Shanghai auto show, Carlos Tavares, chairman of PSA Group, stressed: "it is very clear that PSA Group will never give up the Chinese market." But today's market is "you love me", PSA's "unrequited love" obviously can not get any good results.

In the European market, French cars are on a par with German cars, but the reputation of legal cars in the domestic market is not as good as German cars, but French cars still adhere to themselves in pricing, regardless of the market, and the high pricing of each car makes consumers have to give up.

Renault, which is also a French car, has also performed poorly. According to Dongfeng Motor Group, Dongfeng Renault sold 1008 vehicles in May, down 80% from a year earlier. The cumulative sales from January to May were less than 7400, down 77.2% from a year earlier.

On April 1 this year, Dongfeng Renault formally hired GE Shuwen, who once worked in Audi China, as president of Dongfeng Renault Motor Co., Ltd. and vice president of strategic coordination of Renault Group in China, seeking to reverse the declining performance of the Chinese market.

However, today's performance is also due to the poor strength of the brand and the strength of the product. isn't it tantamount to "changing the soup without changing the clothes" just changing the leader? Judging from the current situation, it is still difficult for Renault to reverse the sharp decline.

For PSA, and even for French brands, launching more competitive products and focusing on the market itself may be able to truly achieve "not withdrawing from the Chinese market".
