According to overseas media, Transport Canada said on its website that it had launched an investigation into brake problems in nearly 250000 GM full-size pick-up trucks and SUV. The reason is the failure of the braking system of the vehicle, which increases the risk of collision.

NHTSA said that the vacuum pump performance of the power braking system of the above vehicles is poor, resulting in increased braking force and longer parking distance. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the failure had so far led to nine crashes and two injuries.

The Transport Canada survey covers 249700 models, including the 2015-2017 Cadillac Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon, and the 2014-2017 Chevrolet Silverado LD and GMC Sierra LD.

As early as last November, the United States launched a similar investigation. At the time, after receiving 111consumer complaints, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) investigated 2.7 million GM trucks and SUV, including the 2014 and 2016 Chevrolet Silverado, Suburban and Tahoe, GMC Sierra and Yukon and Cadillac Escalade models.

GM spokesman Tom Wilkinson said earlier that the company had been monitoring on-site reports and other data on vehicles and would work with NHTSA to further evaluate the data.

Us carmakers sell pickup trucks on such a large scale that if something goes wrong, the cost of the recall can be high. GM's rival Ford Motor Company recalled about 2 million Fmur150 pickup trucks in September, costing the company about $140 million.
