It is understood that the factory was manufactured manually and imported into China for assembly in the form of CKD. This is also the reason why Tesla promised to complete the production delivery in less than a year.

At present, Tesla has officially started the booking of the domestic version of Model 3, which is a sub-low configuration model priced at 328000 yuan, the model is a standard upgrade version, with 460km mileage, 0-100km/h acceleration time of 5.6 seconds, and a maximum speed of up to 225km/h. Users need to pay a deposit of 20, 000 yuan for booking, and the first batch of domestic models will be delivered by the end of the year at the earliest. The price of the imported version of the car in the United States is 377000 yuan, with a difference of less than 50, 000 yuan. If the basic auxiliary driving functions already equipped with the imported version are excluded, the difference between the two is only 21200 yuan, and the advantage of the domestic version is not obvious.

In July 2018, Tesla of the United States reached a preliminary agreement with the Shanghai municipal government to build an electric car factory in Shanghai Lingang. Tesla successfully took the land in October and officially started construction in January 2019. The Shanghai factory has become Tesla's first production base in China and the first electric car factory in China wholly owned by a foreign car company.
