AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)06/27 Report--
The blockbuster bumblebee, which played an important role in the movie Transformers, became famous, and the Chevrolet Comero, a muscle car, became a household name, but GM may stop producing it in 2023.
It has been learned from overseas media that the development of the seventh generation Chevrolet Comero has been suspended, and it is also pointed out that GM has no plans to build the next generation Comero with the latest Alpha platform of Cadillac CT4 and CT5, so it is speculated that Comero, nicknamed "bumblebee", will disappear as soon as 2023.
In terms of the appearance of the seventh-generation Comero, in the previous release of the new Chevrolet Comero, the new car made a small adjustment to the front face, and the design was inspired by the Comero SS Shock concept car unveiled at SEMA in 2018.
On the power side, the 2020 Comero still maintains the power configuration of the current models 6.2L V8 and 3.6L V6, the transmission system matches the new 10-speed automatic transmission, while the original six-speed manual transmission will continue to be available.
This is not the first time the Comero has stopped production. In 2002, the fourth-and fifth-generation Comero models were temporarily suspended. In 2010, the sixth-generation model took over the baton and continued to face the market.
Since its launch in 2016, the delivery volume of the sixth-generation Comero has gradually declined. In 2018, there were fewer than 51000. It was also the worst year for Comero's resurrection since 2009. There will be no improvement in 2019.
Sales also fell compared with the other three muscle cars, but Ford Mustangs scored 75842 in 2018 when Dodge Challenger paid 66716, while Comero sold 50963 vehicles.
GM will keep a close eye on Comero's sales over the next 12 months, and if there are signs of a pick-up, the company is also likely to restart its new plan, but if sales remain sluggish, Chevrolet Comero could face another shutdown.
