Zhuang Li is a Grade 96 student in the Computer Department of Tsinghua University. She is a classmate with her husband Zhou Feng, CEO of Sogou Wang Xiaochuan, etc. Zhuang Li obtained her doctorate from Berkeley University in 2008. Before joining NIO, Zhuang Li served as Vice President of Cheetah Mobile Engineering.

In July 2016, he joined NIO, a new car company in China, as vice president of NIO Software Development (China), responsible for software development in NIO China, including car networking in Beijing, TSP, central control related to complete vehicles in Shanghai, etc.

According to people familiar with the matter, shortly before Zhuang Li left office, NIO's software teams in Beijing and Shanghai were already splitting up and reporting on two lines respectively. For example, Shanghai's software development team reported to Zhou Xin, vice president of enterprise development, and also reported to Li Bin. Previously, software teams in Beijing and Shanghai reported to Zhuang Li.

Wei Lai employee Zhang Wei revealed that Zhuang Li set up a new company outside in the second half of last year, which has long been an open secret within the company, Li Bin also knew. So far, Zhuang Li has poached many technical backbones from Wei Lai to her new company. In addition, the above-mentioned employees also said that NIO is brewing a new round of layoffs in the near future.
