AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)07/02 Report--

On July 2nd, the 2019 World New Energy vehicle Conference was held in Hainan. Experts and enterprise representatives spoke on the current development problems and prospects of the new energy vehicle industry.

Wang Chuanfu, chairman of BYD Automobile, a leading domestic new energy vehicle company, said in a speech that China should formulate a comprehensive electrification development plan as soon as possible, gradually ban the sale of fuel cars, and achieve electrification of private cars by 2030.

Wang Chuanfu said that at a time when traditional cars are facing a huge downward situation, we should take this opportunity to further restrict the gradual realization of a total ban on the sale of traditional fuel vehicles and unswervingly support the full electrification of new energy vehicles.

He also suggested that cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen should fully open up the restrictions on new energy vehicles and give them more preferential policies such as passage and charging, or tilt the target to new energy vehicles on the premise of controlling the total consumption of cars.

To this end, Wang Chuanfu proposed that the state formulate a medium-and long-term development plan for comprehensive electrification as soon as possible to promote the process of comprehensive electrification of automobiles nationwide. Step by step and in different fields, buses will be electrified in 2020, taxis will be electrified in 2022, urban logistics and special vehicles will be electrified in 2025, and private cars will be electrified step by step in 2030.

Wang Chuanfu believes that the importance of doing so is: first, to ensure oil security and achieve self-sufficiency; second, to control air pollution; third, to assume the responsibility of a major country to fulfill China's commitment to global climate change; and fourth, to promote industrial upgrading.

At present, the online comment area has exploded on the news of Wang Chuanfu's proposal to ban the sale of fuel cars.

China's car sales began to decline in the second half of 2018, while new energy vehicles bucked the trend, but so far new energy vehicles have also shown obvious signs of deceleration. According to the data, 104000 new energy vehicles were sold in China in May, an increase of only 1.8% over the same period last year. Sales of new energy vehicles from January to May were 464000, an increase of 41.5% over the same period last year, halving the growth rate. In addition, new energy vehicles that rely on policies and subsidies have lost a big backer. Subsidies have fallen sharply since June 26, and there will be no subsidies at all by the end of next year, and the new energy industry will still fluctuate.

What do you think of Wang Chuanfu's proposed ban on the sale of traditional fuel cars and a fully electrified strategy?
