AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)07/03 Report--
Tesla, an American electric car company that has attracted much attention from the industry, today officially released its production capacity and delivery figures for the second quarter. Tesla announced that the company's production in the second quarter was 87000 vehicles, a record high; delivery volume reached about 95200 vehicles, an increase of 51% month-on-month, a year-on-year increase of 217%, also a record high.
In terms of specific models, the combined production of Model S and Model X in the second quarter was 14517 vehicles with delivery of 17650 vehicles, while Model 3 produced 72531 vehicles with delivery of 77550 vehicles.
Second-quarter deliveries were in line with earlier forecasts by Tesla, which had planned to deliver 90, 000-100000 electric vehicles worldwide in the second quarter and expected to deliver 36-400000 in 2019.
Tesla's delivery data for each region has not been released, but according to Tesla's previous sales analysis, North America will still be Tesla's largest single market, while the Chinese market will rank second.
Tesla also said that the company made significant progress in streamlining global logistics and delivery operations with higher production in the second quarter, thereby improving cost efficiency and improving the company's working capital position.
CEO Musk told employees that if core cost-cutting measures were not taken, the company would run out of cash in about 10 months, according to an internal Tesla email obtained by Reuters on May 18. At the same time, it also said that although Tesla just raised $2.7 billion earlier, cost-cutting measures are still necessary. Musk and Tesla's new CF0 will personally review staff expenses, including the purchase of spare parts, payroll, travel, rent, and "every expense in our bank account".
Data show that Tesla made a net loss of $700m in the first quarter of this year.
In addition, Tesla obtained the expected delivery figures, but the company also experienced personnel upheaval. On June 26th it was reported that Peter Hordinger (Peter Hochholdinger), vice president of production in charge of all car manufacturing at the Tesla Fremont plant, had left; Jan Oehmicke (Jan Oehmicke), vice president of Tesla Europe, left the company on July 2nd; and recently, Steve McManus (Steve MacManus), vice president of internal and external engineering at Tesla, was also revealed to have resigned.
Tesla has worked hard to build a plant in Shanghai, China. at present, it is reported that the construction of the plant has been basically completed, has now entered the stage of installation of production equipment, and is expected to be partially assembled and put into production and delivered to Chinese users by the end of the year.
