AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)07/03 Report--
According to foreign media reports, Volkswagen Group recently issued a statement saying that Volkswagen Group will achieve its goal of increasing the proportion of electric vehicles sold in the Chinese market to 50% by 2035, and strive to lead the electric transformation of China's automobile industry. Herbert Deiss, the company's chief executive, said at the Boao 2019 World New Energy vehicle Conference on Tuesday that half of Volkswagen's future sales in the Chinese market will be new energy vehicles (NEV).
Volkswagen has joint ventures with FAW Group, SAIC Motor and JAC in China. The world's largest carmaker is currently building two factories in China, in Anting, China, and Foshan, Guangdong. When the new plant is completed, it is expected to produce 600000 vehicles a year on the dedicated battery vehicle platform MEB.
China announced the cancellation of the whitelist of electric car batteries on June 21, and the domestic electric vehicle market began to open to the outside world. According to the Federation of passengers, the sales volume of China's new energy passenger vehicle market reached 442000 units in the first five months of this year, an increase of 58% over the same period last year. This shows that China's new energy vehicle market has broad prospects.
At present, Volkswagen Group's passenger car brands account for 1% of global carbon emissions. To this end, Volkswagen needs to develop relevant decarbonization plans to achieve what Deiss stressed: "by 2050, we will be carbon neutral throughout the group."
Volkswagen plans to launch 14 electric car products in China this year. The statement also said that by 2028, more than half of the 22 million electric vehicles the company plans to produce will be produced in China, so Volkswagen will need to invest in factories to meet capacity. Volkswagen has previously said it plans to sell 400000 new energy vehicles in China next year and about 1.5 million by 2025.
