At the plenary meeting on July 2, Xu Liuping, chairman of China first Automobile Group Co., Ltd., delivered a keynote speech entitled "High safety is the key and foundation for the sustainable development of the electric vehicle industry".

In Xu Liuping's view, there are three key problems affecting the development of China's electric vehicle industry: the first is driving safety, which is the key premise and the top concern of consumers; secondly, the total cost of the whole industry chain, the whole life cycle and the whole business model determines the commercial feasibility; finally, the convenience of infrastructure.

Xu Liuping stressed the importance of safety. He believes that safety first is the key and prerequisite for ensuring long-term development. According to Xu Liuping, the proportion of safety accidents reported by electric vehicles has increased in recent years. According to the scene of safety accidents, charging accounts for 29%, driving accounts for 19%, parking accounts for 19%, and unknown accounts for 33%. In electric vehicle safety accidents, the safety of lithium-ion batteries has become the core of attention.

He also summarized six major aspects that affect the safety of the battery: self-problems, connection problems, external collisions, charging problems, daily use and the fight and treatment after spontaneous combustion.

Xu Liuping said he realized that a series of recent reports on the burning of electric vehicles have made headlines and attracted the attention of the whole society. In Xu Liuping's view, if it is not handled properly, these small and individual problems of electric vehicle combustion will cast a shadow over the booming industry.

For new things, people in the industry are easy to understand, but the views of the public and consumers are different. Life is at stake, and automobile safety is more important than Mount Tai. Safety first is the key and basic prerequisite to ensure the long-term development of the electric vehicle industry. The relevant ministries and commissions of the state and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology are responding positively and are conducting a number of inspections and supervision.

For the next development of the electric vehicle industry, Xu Liuping gave relevant suggestions: strengthen the enforcement of national laws and regulations and industry standards; strengthen internal management, enterprises should resolutely fulfill the responsibility of safety subjects; strengthen openness and transparency, release information in a timely manner, respond positively to concerns, eliminate social doubts, reduce panic caused by unknown truth, strengthen innovation drive, strengthen basic technology research of electric vehicles, and so on.

FAW of China has launched seven major work for the safety of electric vehicles. In 2030, FAW of China will implement two mainstream platforms, covering A0 to D-level products. The brand covers Red Flag, Pentium, Liberation and so on. New energy products account for 40% of passenger cars in 2025 and more than 60% in 2030.

Xu Liuping said that this year, Hongqi new energy vehicles will push 35,000, a relative increase of about 11 times. Next year, there will be a series of blockbuster products to be provided to Chinese and global consumers. It is not easy for China's new energy vehicle industry to develop today. through the joint efforts of the whole society, from the central to the local government, promoting the vigorous development of China's new energy industry can also lead the global automobile industry to flourish.

As the leader of domestic automobile enterprises, FAW of China will take the lead in the field of new energy vehicles and will firmly regard new energy vehicles as the focus and main body of the development of China FAW as a whole and its brands; firmly regard "electrification, intelligent network connection, sharing and ecology" as the direction and breakthrough of automobile development; firmly regard innovation as the fundamental driving force for the development of new energy vehicles. Firmly regard safety as the primary indicator of new energy vehicle products.
