Recently, some netizens revealed that a Model 3 had a collision accident during the Tesla test drive in Shenzhen. The front face of the test drive car seemed to hit the telephone pole. The pictures on the scene showed that the center of the front face of the vehicle had been recessed, the headlights had been damaged, and the whole front face was seriously deformed. This is also the first Chinese Model 3 crash.

It has been reported that the test drive model involved in the accident was Model 3 Performance, and the car's official 100-kilometer acceleration was only 3.5 seconds. Too fast acceleration may be the main cause of the accident.

In January, Tesla announced that the Model 3 was officially available for option and reservation in the mainland of China, priced at 499,000 yuan and 560,000 yuan respectively, with the highest standard range in China of 590km and 595km respectively, and delivered to users from March. Later, in early February, the Model 3 long-range rear-wheel drive version was officially opened for booking in China.

Tesla's Shanghai plant started construction on January 7. The first phase of the project was completed in the second quarter and put into operation in the second half of the year. After completion, the total annual production capacity reached 500,000 vehicles. Tesla's Shanghai plant will initially build a domestic Model 3 two-wheel drive benchmark model, while the second localized model will be Tesla's unreleased Model Y.
