Volvo officially released its sales figures for the first half of 2019. According to the latest sales figures, Volvo delivered 340826 new cars worldwide in the first half of this year, up 7.3 per cent from a year earlier, and 67741 in China, an increase of 10.2 per cent.
Among them, Volvo sales in China, the United States and Europe all achieved growth. In the Chinese market, Volvo sold 13238 new cars in June, up 13.3% from a year earlier. From January to June, Volvo sold 67741 new cars in China, up 10.2% from a year earlier, a record.
In the US market, Volvo delivered 9934 cars in the US in June, up 0.7 per cent from a year earlier, and sold 50120 new cars in the first half, up 5.2 per cent from a year earlier. In Europe, Volvo sold 174398 vehicles in the first half, up 6 per cent from a year earlier, with sales in the UK and Germany up 29.6 per cent and 32 per cent respectively.
Domestic XC60 and S90 models are popular in the market, contributing to the growth of their sales. The XC60 is particularly popular, with 97203 units sold in the first half, followed by the XC40 and XC90, with 61864 and 47818, respectively. The company's latest models, the V60 estate, the V60 Cross Country and the American-made S60 sedan, also contributed to sales growth.
In mid-June, Volvo delivered 62775 vehicles worldwide, down 2 per cent from the same period last year, mainly because its sales in Europe fell 9 per cent to 30234 last month. In Sweden, Europe's largest market, Volvo sold 5762 vehicles last month, down 41.7 per cent from the same period last year.
