Volvo released January sales figures, showing that Volvo's global sales reached 50679 vehicles in January, up 16.7% from a year earlier, with varying degrees of growth in all regional markets.

In Europe, Volvo sales surged 24.4 per cent to 26195 vehicles in January from a year earlier, with strong demand for XC60, XC40 and new V60 models. In the US, Volvo sales rose 5.2 per cent in January from a year earlier to 5854 vehicles. The XC60 is Volvo's best-selling model in the US, followed by the XC90's large SUV.

In the Chinese market, Volvo sold 11957 new cars in January, only 3.6 per cent year-on-year, while the XC60 and S90 models made in China still dominate sales. The domestic S60 has reached the end of the model, and a new generation of domestic S60 is expected to further strengthen Volvo's product lineup in China this year.

In 2017, Volvo sold 642253 new cars worldwide, up 12.4% from the same period in 2017. Of these, Volvo sold 130593 new cars in the Chinese market, up 14.1% from a year earlier and accounting for 20% of its brand's global sales.
