GAC GROUP released production and sales figures for June. GAC GROUP sold 189000 cars in June 2019, up 5.59% from a year earlier and 18.75% from a month earlier, while terminal sales were 194000, up 14.35% from a year earlier and 15.05% from a month earlier. In the first half of the year, GAC GROUP sold a total of 1.0228 million cars at terminals, an increase of 6.79 percent over the same period last year.

Sales of Guangzhou Auto Honda and Guangzhou Auto Toyota, owned by GAC GROUP, are still growing. Guangzhou Auto Honda sold 71300 vehicles in June, up 8.63 per cent from a year earlier. Ting sold 394500 vehicles from January to June, up 16.41 per cent from a year earlier. Guangzhou Auto Toyota sold 55500 vehicles in June, up 9% from the same period last year. The cumulative sales from January to June were 311200, up 22% from a year earlier.

In terms of its own brands, GAC MOTOR's terminal sales in June were 54534, up 57.6 per cent from a year earlier. The terminal sales from January to June were 283223, up 5.6 per cent from a year earlier. Among them, Chuanqi GM8's terminal sales in the first half of the year were 14843, up 43 per cent from the same period last year.

GAC MOTOR, as an independent brand, should be the best year in history in terms of new cars, with 11 new cars, sedans, SUV and MPV layouts, and as many as 11 models under GAC MOTOR (excluding new energy models). In 2017, when GAC MOTOR's sales peaked (annual sales of 508600 vehicles), there were only six models sold throughout the year. Chuanqi GS3, GS7 and GM8 were all new cars on the market in the second half of 2017.

However, GAC MOTOR's high expectations of the new car, basically did not meet expectations. The expensive Chuanqi GS5 sold only 23475 vehicles in the first five months of its debut in Paris, and the Chuanqi GS4, which completed the replacement last year, is no longer popular.

Chuanqi GS4 has attracted a lot of consumer attention since its launch, and in 2016 it beat a large number of SUV, becoming the second place in the SUV sales list with sales of 333280 vehicles, second only to Harvard H6, and then hovered in the top five, but in 2019, the SUV suffered a Waterloo and sales fell to 29th.

Chuanqi GS4, as the main model under GAC, should be given great attention, but Chuanqi GS4 did not usher in a replacement until June 2018 after three years on the market, while the competitiveness of the modified Chuanqi GS4 did not improve obviously. The old models have poor reputation, old engines and other factors make Chuanqi GS4 sales fall instead of rising after the change.

As for GAC MOTOR's GS4 update and promotion is not obvious, there may be another possibility, even if it makes way for the new car GS5. But unfortunately, due to high pricing and low production power, Chuanqi GS5 did not live up to expectations after its listing, with an average monthly sales of less than 5000 vehicles and a maximum sales of only 8175 vehicles, far below expectations.

However, on June 28, the last working day of June, GAC suddenly announced that the GAC MOTOR Yichang plant was completed and GAC MOTOR's new generation of GA6 was officially offline.

This is GAC MOTOR since the beginning of this year, sales have been declining, and rare news. In fact, the GA6 is a car that has been in the market for a long time, this time it is an upgrade, but also from the new factory, which is of great significance. It can be seen that taking this opportunity to revive GAC MOTOR's former glory is just around the corner.

For GAC MOTOR, as a latecomer, under the background of the bad market environment, the fluctuation of sales volume is very normal. What GAC MOTOR needs to do now is not to whitewash the peace, but to reflect on the problems in the process of rapid development in time, and how to really respect consumers and improve product quality and performance.
