The official confirmation means that neither BMW i3 nor i8 will have a successor.

In February 2011, BMW launched its all-new sub-brand BMW I at its headquarters in Germany, and launched BMW i3 and i8 in 2014. These two models have received wide attention because their designs are very close to concept cars, and are regarded as examples of German electrified models. However, after years of development, they have not changed much in appearance design, which makes people very much expect BMW to update these two models significantly.

However, the unique styling design of BMW's i3 and i8 is also a tool to showcase its latest technology and will not become a complete product line, so it will not have a complete product lineup like other BMW models. These two cars just exist in their own time and space.

However, the BMW i3 is BMW's first pure electric car and demonstrates BMW's electric technology. However, Fr ö lich said that the Vision M Next concept car belongs to BMW's M-series, which focuses more on performance and handling, and that there will be no successors for BMW i3 and i8.
