BMW recently released sales figures for the first half of 2019, with cumulative global deliveries under the BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce brands rising 0.7 per cent year-on-year to 240674 vehicles. BMW sold 350070 vehicles (including BMW and MINI) in China in the first half of this year, up 16.8% from a year earlier and more than 1.25 million vehicles worldwide, according to official BMW figures. The Chinese market accounts for more than 1/4 of the global market.

In June 2019, BMW's Chinese market grew by more than 20%, with sales of 61600 vehicles. It is understood that the main driving force of growth comes from the hot sales of X-series SUV. BMW sold 467100 X models in the first half of 2019, while the X-Series accounted for more than 43 per cent of BMW's global sales, up from 36 per cent last year.

In the first half of this year, the new BMW 5-Series and 3-Series families each sold more than 75000 vehicles. BMW sold 58000 X3s and more than 48000 X1s. At the same time, the new generation of BMW X5 sold 11000 vehicles in the first half of the year.

It is worth mentioning that BMW's new 3-series just went on sale at the end of June and sales are expected to peak in the second half of the year. In addition, in the first half of this year, sales of BMW new energy vehicles increased by nearly 40% compared with the same period last year, and BMW X1 and BMW 5-series plug-in hybrid remained hot. This year, BMW continues to enrich the product matrix of large luxury cars, in line with the general trend of consumption upgrading in the Chinese market. After the launch of the BMW X7 and the new BMW 7-Series, the market received positive feedback, while the new BMW 8-Series family will be launched in the third quarter of this year.

Despite the current headwinds facing the global auto industry, BMW's sales grew in three major markets in June. In the United States, BMW continued to buck the trend, achieving 3.9% sales growth in the month, while in the Chinese market, BMW Group recorded 20.9% year-on-year growth. Despite the fierce competition and volatility of the global auto market, BMW hopes to achieve sales growth in 2019. The company will continue to follow the strategy of making profits first and volume later.
