Mercedes-Benz released sales figures for the first half of 2019, global sales fell 4.6% year-on-year to 1134729 vehicles, Mercedes-Benz declined in major car markets, only China achieved growth.

Regionally, Mercedes-Benz fell 4%, 7.2% and 3.1% in Europe, the United States and the Asia-Pacific market, respectively, with sales in China growing by 1.3%. China has already become the largest single market of Mercedes-Benz in the world, with sales reaching 670000 vehicles in China in 2018.

Mercedes-Benz (including the smart brand) sold 57018 vehicles in China in June, roughly the same as a year earlier, with a cumulative sales of 344657 vehicles from January to June, up 1.3 per cent from a year earlier.

In terms of specific models, domestic Mercedes-Benz A-class long-wheelbase version sold more than 30, 000 vehicles in the first half of the year, 77000 E-class cars, and 80, 000 C-class models in the medium term. For SUV, Mercedes-Benz GLC sold 66842 vehicles in the first half, while compact SUV GLA sales fell to just 23000.

BMW sold 350070 vehicles in China in the first half of the year, up 16.8 per cent from a year earlier, while Audi sold 311871 vehicles, up 2.1 per cent from a year earlier. It means that in the first half of 2019, the champion of the first-tier luxury brand was taken away by BMW, and Audi slipped to third place.

It is understood that Mercedes-Benz will launch a new car offensive in the second half of the year, including domestic GLB, medium-term revamped GLC, EQC, AMG A35L and other new models on the market, seeking continued sales growth.
