Polestar, an independent high-performance electric vehicle brand of Volvo, officially launched its second model, the Polestar 2, on February 27th. The new car will be officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, which opens on March 5th, and is scheduled to be made in 2020.

Polestar has already announced that it will go on sale in the United States early next summer with a pre-tax price of $44000 (294000 yuan). Two days ago, officials announced a starting price of 39900 euros (303700 yuan) in the European market, while the official suggested retail price of the first version of the model was 59900 euros (456000 yuan) in the first 12 months after mass production began. Now the price of Polestar 2 in China has also been exposed: 300000-550000 yuan.

Wu Zhenhao, president of Polestar China, revealed on Weibo that the domestic price of the 2 models is between 30 yuan and 550000 yuan. More details will be announced at the product launch on April 12.

In appearance, Polestar 2 adopts slip-back styling design, and the overall lines are smooth. The rear of the car with through-type taillights looks very compact, while the large panoramic skylight on the roof is also very eye-catching.

In terms of interior decoration, the new car uses a mix of simple style and large-size vertical screen, using a suspended central control screen, but also let the rear center console form a whole, with few buttons, the overall simplicity and a sense of science and technology.

The Polestar 2 uses a pure electric drive system with dual front and rear motors and a battery pack with a capacity of 72kWh. The 27-module battery pack of the vehicle is integrated in the body chassis and has the target mileage of 500km NEDC. The maximum output power of the vehicle is 300 kilowatts, the peak torque is 660Nm, the acceleration time is less than 5s, and the four-wheel drive mode is adopted.

As a new Volvo brand, Polestar (Polaris) officially became independent in June 2017. the brand focuses on "performance cars" and will no longer use Volvo's LOGO and will hang its own independent "Polestar" logo, but the new car still looks like Volvo in design according to the mass production car official diagram released by Polestar.

Polestar 2 plans to start mass production in Chengdu, China in early 2020 and supply the global market. According to official accounts, Polestar 2 will compete directly with Tesla Model 3, and by the time Polestar 2 is actually mass produced in China, it is estimated that Tesla Model 3 will also be domestically produced, and there will be two more competitors in China's electric vehicle industry.
