Toyota will announce with Mazda that it will invest nearly $1.6 billion to build a new joint venture plant in Huntsville, Alabama. The new factory originally planned to make a new Mazda SUV and Toyota Corolla compact sedan, but the factory has changed its plans and now says it will build a new SUV model, which is not known yet, but certainly not the two mentioned above, and the news also revealed that Mazda's plans to build a new SUV model will not change.

Toyota and Mazda officials say the vehicles produced at the new plant will share some components and suppliers, but will each be responsible for the technical aspects of their own brand development. The plant is expected to start operating in 2021 and may have an annual capacity of 300000 vehicles, with Toyota and Mazda each accounting for 50 per cent, providing more than 4000 jobs in the US.

Mazda said in a statement that each of its brand models was developed independently. Automakers expect the new models to make their debut sometime in 2020 because production plans for these models will begin in 2021.

Mazda's new compact crossover SUV CX-30 is about to go on sale at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, while Mazda is expected to launch the new CX-30 crossover SUV; at the plant, while Toyota plans to start production of the 12-generation Toyota Corolla at the plant at the earliest, and the new plant has confirmed the upcoming production of a new Toyota SUV, which is expected to be the same crossover SUV as the Mazda CX-30.
