AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)07/18 Report--

French carmaker PSA Group released its Citroen sales report, which showed that Citroen sold 116000 units worldwide in June and 536000 in the first half of the year, down 5.3 per cent and 6.4 per cent respectively from a year earlier.

Among them, in the Chinese market, as one of the two major cooperative brands of PSA Group, Dongfeng Citroen has experienced a huge decline in sales. Dongfeng Citroen sold just 4200 units in June, down 58 per cent from a year earlier, according to official PSA figures. Total sales in the first half of the year were 29000, down 58 per cent from a year earlier.

Sales of Dongfeng Citroen reached 149000 units in the first half of 2015 and have declined since then, according to PSA Group. By 2017, its first-half sales had fallen to 46000. In 2018, sales of Dongfeng Citroen rebounded to 69000 units, up 30 per cent from a year earlier. However, with the car market in the doldrums in 2019, Dongfeng Citroen's market was also difficult, with sales falling again, and the 29000 units were the worst half-year sales of Dongfeng Citroen in the past five years.

In order to increase sales, Dongfeng Citroen also attaches great importance. At this year's Dongfeng Citroen dealer conference, Citroen CEO Lin Jiesheng for the first time expressed his attention to the Chinese market. She said at the conference that the launch of Xin C3-XR will enable Dongfeng Citroen to rebuild the complete SUV market and will continue to increase the release of its products in the next few years.

In fact, Dongfeng Citroen has launched new cars frequently this year, launching 2019 C3-Xr and C4L models in March and 2019 C6 models in June. People in the industry said that many models of Dongfeng Citroen were made several years ago, and consumers did not buy up. Although three models were launched this year, they were all modified, not brand-new products.

In addition, with the implementation of the national six emission standards, Dongfeng Citroen switched from national five to national six through the configuration of a new second-generation THP engine. At present, Dongfeng Citroen's main models C6 and Tianyi have been switched. It is understood that in late July, Dongfeng Citroen Xin C3-XR will also have a discount on the latest power of 230THP+6DCT officially listed.

However, judging from the report card in the first half of the year, neither the release of new cars nor the switch to the sixth grade has achieved the effect of boosting sales.

It is understood that the annual sales target of DPCA this year is only 235000 units, which is not only 20, 000 units less than last year's annual sales, but also the lowest sales target in history. Of the 235000 vehicles, Dongfeng Citroen occupied 95000. When talking about this figure, Li Jun, executive deputy general manager of DPCA, said that the company has set a relatively rational sales target. However, half a year sales of only 29000 units, the annual sales target of only 30%, Dongfeng Citroen to achieve the target has been very difficult.
