According to Mercedes-Benz officials, cumulative sales of the Mercedes-Benz brand in China in the first half of 2019 were 350000 vehicles, up 1 per cent from a year earlier. In the first half of this year, Mercedes-Benz grew slowly in terms of overall sales, but in terms of car segments, Mercedes-Benz GLC L and E-class long-axle models were ahead of their competitors, and the Mercedes-Benz brand sold 57000 vehicles in China in June 2019, the same as in the same period last year.

In terms of vehicle segmentation, domestic Mercedes-Benz A-class long wheelbase version accumulated sales of 30, 000 vehicles in the first half of the year, while Mercedes-Benz E-Class accumulated sales of 77000 vehicles, leading the same class of models. Mercedes-Benz C-Class accumulated sales of more than 80,000 vehicles. In terms of SUV models, Mercedes-Benz GLC L accumulated sales of 66800 vehicles and Mercedes-Benz GLA sales of 23000 vehicles in the first half of the year.

Judging from the market sales situation this year, the overall sales growth rate of Mercedes-Benz has slowed down. According to the data released by the Carriage Association, in the first half of the year, Mercedes-Benz GLC L and E-class long wheelbase respectively won the top of their respective market segments, among which GLC L achieved sales of 66000 vehicles and achieved 7.5% growth on the premise of X3 and Q5L being replaced.

Mercedes-Benz's current product sales structure also began to show new changes, with long wheelbase A-class cars, GLA SUV, it began to gain more and more customers in the "sinking market". Data show that from January to June this year, the cumulative sales of long-wheelbase A-class A-class cars exceeded 32000, becoming the most important source of increment for Mercedes-Benz in the first half of the year.

At present, the entire SUV family has accounted for more than 1/3 of the sales of the entire Mercedes-Benz brand in China, and this proportion still has room for improvement after Mercedes-Benz perfects the product layout of SUV market segments. In the second half of the year, the two domestic SUV of GLC L and GLB have been launched one after another. Meanwhile, GLS and EQC will also be available in the second half of the year.

In the second half of this year, Mercedes-Benz will introduce two new models, Mercedes-Benz GLB and EQC, to expand Mercedes-Benz's market segment. At the same time, Mercedes-Benz is completing the gradual replacement of its heavyweight models, which will eventually enhance the competitiveness of its products.
