According to the official website of the General Administration of Market Supervision, the driver's or passenger seat airbags of the vehicles covered by this recall have been replaced by Takata's ammonium nitrate gas generator without desiccant during production or after-sale maintenance. During the deployment of the airbag, the gas generator of the airbag may be abnormally damaged, resulting in debris flying out, injuring the people in the car, and there is a safety hidden danger. GAC Honda will replace the improved airbag gas generator for vehicles within the recall area free of charge.

So far, at least 24 people around the world have been killed by faulty Takata airbag inflators, including 15 in the United States and 230 injured. Honda and Ford, which have had 21 and 2 fatalities respectively due to Takata airbags, are urging owners to avoid driving until the airbags are replaced.

This triggered the largest safety recall in the history of the automobile industry, with 19 automakers worldwide recalling more than 100 million cars equipped with Takata airbags. But so far, this incident has been fermented for five years, but in 2019, China has launched 12 batches of recall notices for this defect, involving a total of 760000 defective cars from 8 brands.

Among them, the Takata airbag incident affected at least 38 Chinese car companies, and 26 car companies carried out more than 100 recalls, involving more than 100 models and 18.87 million vehicles. It can be said that almost none of the models with airbags provided by Takata were spared.

According to the recall data released by the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, there were 26 batches of 1.748 million vehicles recalled in 2018 alone because of hidden dangers in Takata airbags, accounting for 13.9% of the total recall for the whole year. Subdivided, except for no recall due to Takata airbag problems in May and September in 2018, there were recalls to varying degrees in the remaining 10 months.

The Takata airbag recall is synonymous with safety risks and has been on the list nine times in previous recall reports, including BMW, Toyota, Tesla, Subaru, Ferrari and other car companies. And this year, Toyota and Ford both said at the beginning of this year that they would expand the recall worldwide, of which Toyota accounted for 1.7 million vehicles and Ford 953000 vehicles. This means that the recall will continue.

It is worth mentioning that Takata, which once accounted for 20% of the global airbag market, filed for bankruptcy in June 2017. After a decade of recall scandals and huge compensation, it is now insolvent. Debt exceeds 1 trillion yen ($9 billion)

But the hidden problems of its airbags continue to affect a number of car companies. Among the worst affected are BMW and Toyota, which recalled 360000 and 191500 vehicles respectively because of hidden dangers in Takata airbags.
