According to relevant media reports, J.D.Power, a world-renowned research organization, recently released a study on the loyalty of American automobile brands in 2019. The study, based on US car transaction data from June 2018 to May 2019, measures whether car owners will buy or rent previously used car brands, and loyalty is based on the percentage of owners who choose the same brand.

Brand loyalty is one of the key indicators of carmakers, not only to attract consumers to buy back cars from the same manufacturer, but also to recommend the brand to other friends or family.

The data of this survey are all from the domestic market of the United States, and the American automobile market is also the most mature and stable market. However, according to the data, the loyalty of local car brands is not higher than that of car brands in other countries. Subaru ranks highest in the Volkswagen market as a whole, while Lexus ranks highest among luxury brands.

In the list of popular models, Japanese brands took the top three, Subaru firmly ranked first with 61.5% brand loyalty, Toyota (59.5%) and Honda (57.7%) ranked second and third. Local brands RAM (56.2%) and Ford (54%) ranked in the top five, while Chevrolet even ranked seventh. Some mass market car brand loyalty rankings in the United States are at the middle and low end, with Buick brand loyalty at 28.3%, Dodge at 16.8% and Chrysler at 14.4%.

In luxury cars, Lexus has the highest brand loyalty, with 47.6%, followed by Mercedes (44.2%), BMW (43.6%) and Porsche (43.5%). Lexus is ahead thanks to consumer love for its SUV and crossover, and Lexus is the only one in the top 10 with three models on the list: RX, NX and ES.
