AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)07/21 Report--

In May this year, Pang Youth announced that the company had successfully developed a "vehicle that can be driven only by adding water", which immediately caused an uproar in the society, denouncing it as a scam, while Pang Youth was fearless and confidently invited all the major media to watch.

Pang Qingqing showed off a "water hydrogen car", which can really drive on the road after adding water. However, Pang youth avoided talking about core technology and other related information. In short, Pang Qingqing's "water hydrogen car" has not won unanimous recognition from the outside world.

Although Pang Qing is suspected of cheating, the "water hydrogen car" is indeed a realistic product, and the car that can be driven only by adding water is actually a hydrogen fuel cell car, which uses hydrogen as the raw material and provides power after a series of reactions. It's not water. Recently, BMW Group officially announced that it will restart the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle project.

BMW has been studying hydrogen energy for 25 years. In 2007, BMW launched the BMW7 series, the world's first hydrogen-powered luxury high-performance car. The hydrogen 7 series is equipped with a 6.0l V12 gasoline engine capable of using liquid hydrogen fuel, with a maximum power of 191kw. The hydrogen energy 7 series is equipped with a 74-liter fuel tank and a liquid hydrogen fuel tank of about 8 kilograms. Dual-mode drive provides a total range of more than 700km for the bmw hydrogen 7 series.

However, this model failed to achieve mass production, not because the technology failed, but because the cost was too high.

The failure to keep up with hydrogen infrastructure and after-sales service has also limited the development of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. So even if it is technically capable of producing hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, the BMW hydrogen fuel cell vehicle project can only be suspended because of its high cost and unprofitability.

But a pause does not mean letting go. BMW has been quietly specializing in technology over the years. Unexpectedly, Audi and Mercedes-Benz have successively launched hydrogen fuel vehicles, especially Mercedes-Benz has launched Mercedes-Benz GLC PHEV fuel cell vehicles in the German market. Although this car is combined with plug-in hybrid technology, it also applies hydrogen energy technology to real vehicles. It is reported that the Mercedes-Benz GLC hydrogen fuel cell model will go on sale overseas next year, and BMW currently has no real car to compete with. No way, immediately win over Toyota to cooperate, the BMW X5 is the first mass-produced hydrogen-fueled car.

In April, Toyota announced that it would release about 23000 patents for hybrid vehicle technology for use by other automakers, including the THS system, which is known as Toyota's new energy field. And BMW's partnership with Toyota has its eye on Toyota's hydrogen fuel cell technology.

As early as 1992, Toyota began to develop hydrogen fuel cells and produced an experimental car called the FCHV. After more than a decade of development, Toyota has fully mastered the hydrogen fuel cell technology, and finally officially put Miral, a hydrogen-producing vehicle, on the market in December 2014.

The Mirai uses high-pressure hydrogen as a power source, which is stored in a high-pressure hydrogen storage tank located in the rear part of the car body. Under JC08 conditions, Mirai's hydrogen reserves can support 700km mileage, of course, Mirai will not release harmful gases. At present, the price of Mirai is about 270000 yuan after subsidy in Japan, which is really not close to the people.

Toyota has the most mature hydrogen fuel cell technology in the world, and BMW is undoubtedly trying to overtake in the corner to seize the market. However, in terms of the current market environment and technical capacity, the infrastructure still can not keep up, and the battery cost is still unbearable. According to the existing technical conditions, pure electric vehicles have the problems of mileage anxiety and slow charging. Hydrogen fuel cell cars are completely different. they instill hydrogen energy like refueling and can be done in a few minutes. And the range is far more than pure electric vehicles, and it will not shorten the range due to the energy attenuation caused by bad weather.

If the development of hydrogen energy vehicles in the future is rapid enough, coupled with the improvement of infrastructure, every gas station can be equipped with hydrogen indoctrination equipment, it is believed that the development of hydrogen energy vehicles may become the mainstream of new energy vehicles in the future.
