Yesterday, Fortune magazine released its 2019 list of the world's top 500. According to the list, the total number of Chinese companies on the list this year is 129, surpassing the United States (121) for the first time.

In terms of carmakers and parts suppliers, there are 33 companies on the list this year, including 23 vehicles and 10 parts. It includes six Chinese car companies, six Japanese car companies, three German car companies, two American car companies, two Korean car companies, two French car companies, one Indian car company and one Swedish car company.

Among them, the ranking of one company in the overall list this year is the same as that of last year, seven companies have risen, and all the remaining 25 companies have fallen in varying degrees.

In addition, if China Armament Group, which includes Changan Automobile, is half a company, then China actually has 6.5 auto companies on the global top 500 list. This number surpasses Japan's six (Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Suzuki, Mazda, Subaru) and ranks first in the world.

The six Chinese auto companies on the list of the world's top 500 companies are Shanghai Automobile Group Co., Ltd., Dongfeng Automobile Co., Ltd., China first Automobile Group, Beijing Automobile Group, Guangzhou Automotive Industry Group and Zhejiang Geely holding Group. Ranked 39th, 82,87,129,189,220 respectively. Compared with last year, China first Automobile Group rose 38 places and Zhejiang Geely Holdings Group rose 47 places, making it the two most advanced car companies on the list.

A very remarkable feature of the car companies that have entered the Fortune 500 list in China is that the sales profits of the major car companies mainly come from joint venture products.

For example, SAIC Group has three joint ventures: SAIC-Volkswagen, SAIC-GM and SAIC-GM Wuling; Dongfeng Motor sales are supported by joint ventures such as Dongfeng Nissan, Dongfeng Honda and Dongfeng Yueda Kia; FAW Group's sales are supported by joint ventures such as FAW-Volkswagen and FAW Toyota; BAIC mainly relies on joint ventures of Beijing Mercedes-Benz and Beijing Hyundai to contribute sales. Geely, a private company, derives most of its sales from Volvo, which is wholly controlled, and Geely's own turnover accounts for about 1/3 of Geely Holdings.

In addition, according to the official website of Fortune, the 10 auto parts companies on this year's list are Bosch, mainland China, Denso, Zaifu, Magna, Aixin Seiki, Bridgestone, Hyundai Mobis, Sumitomo Electric and Michelin. Among them, Continental Group and ZF achieved a rise in the overall ranking, while Michelin's ranking was the same as last year.

From this point of view, 17 of the 22 car companies on the list have fallen in the rankings, which also shows that due to the environmental impact of the global market, the car consumer market is in the doldrums, affecting the revenue performance of the major automobile companies. However, Chinese auto companies account for three of the five auto companies that have risen in the rankings, which shows that as the largest auto market, the market potential of China is still not to be underestimated.
