AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)07/23 Report--

With the rapid development of science and technology, today, with the prevalence of consumerism, in order to meet the urgent needs of consumers for the upgrading of vehicle models, the production mode of a previous model developed for a decade or more obviously can not adapt to the market. and with the continuous tightening of fuel consumption and emission regulations, the "platform" production of technology sharing has become the general trend of the development of automobile enterprises.

Foreign media reported that BMW and Jaguar Land Rover are about to establish a cooperative relationship, and the two sides plan to jointly develop motors, gearboxes and power electronic systems, and the engine project will cover gasoline engines, diesel engines and hybrid power systems. it can also reduce the cost of research and development to a certain extent.

According to previous reports, Jaguar Land Rover's partnership with BMW is to develop the next generation of electric and plug-in hybrid technology, and the two sides will work together to develop an electric drive system (EDUs). It is hoped that this will reduce development costs in this area and does not involve fuel vehicles and hybrid models.

Now the two sides have reached the terms of a "more far-reaching agreement on gasoline, diesel and hybrid transmission systems". BMW will supply Jaguar Land Rover with four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines, according to people familiar with the matter. At present, the news has not been officially confirmed by the two companies.

In fact, once this news becomes a solid fact, it means that BMW can increase engine production through this cooperation, make its excellent engines more recognized in the market, and gain more benefits to ensure production efficiency.

At present, major automobile manufacturers around the world are researching and developing new technologies such as battery electric vehicles and self-driving cars, and these technologies need a lot of financial support. Therefore, sharing technology is a good way to reduce costs.

As Land Rover Jaguar's sales have been declining in the past two years, it has been unable to find a reason. In June, Jaguar Land Rover reported global sales of 47000 vehicles, down 9.6 per cent from a year earlier. Among all market segments, only the UK home market grew by 4.6 per cent, while all other markets were in a downward trend, with a 12.3 per cent decline in China, the world's largest car market.

Therefore, it is considering a full transformation to a pure electric vehicle brand, hoping to reverse the situation through this plan. Starting from 2019, every new car will be equipped with an electric version to give consumers more choices.

Jaguar Land Rover's electrified layout is later than the BBA, and technology sharing allows Jaguar Land Rover to reduce its continued investment in gasoline, diesel and hybrid powertrains, reduce costs and make vehicles cheaper, while concentrating the savings on electric drivetrains in partnership with BMW.

With the improvement of emission standards by regulators in major markets around the world, large-engine engines no longer have any advantages, while BMW engines, which are widely used around the world, have been recognized by major auto market regulators, which also helps to promote Jaguar Land Rover models.
