At the beginning of this year, Tesla Shanghai super factory officially started construction in the Lingang industrial zone. After half a year of construction, the factory has basically taken shape. Tesla said on July 24 that the Shanghai super factory would be officially opened by the end of this year to produce Model 3 models.

The Shanghai Super Factory is Tesla's third super factory in the world and Tesla's second vehicle assembly plant; previously, the Fremont plant in California was the only vehicle assembly plant that Tesla was running, where Model 3, Model S and Model X were all assembled and produced. Tesla said that at present, the relevant production machinery of the Shanghai super factory is basically in place, and the first stage of production is being prepared and is expected to be put into production by the end of the year.

Max, president of Tesla, said that Tesla attaches great importance to the Chinese market, which is one of Tesla's most important markets in the world. Through the super factory in Shanghai, Tesla can reduce high transportation costs and tariffs, reduce its domestic prices, and may significantly increase the sales of its models in China. The completion and commissioning of the Shanghai super factory will be a very important milestone for Tesla.
