In early July, the Federation released statistics showing that narrow passenger car sales in June were 1.766 million, up 4.9% from a year earlier, and the car market grew for the first time in 12 months. Many car companies have issued good news, announcing a pick-up in sales in June.

However, by collating the sales data of nine automobile groups, including SAIC, FAW, Dongfeng, BAIC, Guangzhou Automobile, Changan, Geely, Chery and brilliance, it is found that most of the head car groups showed negative sales growth in the first half of the year. Eight of the nine groups' sales declined in the first half compared with the same period last year. As the head of the car company is still like this, the space of the automotive industry is still in good condition.

In terms of sales of the nine automobile groups, Changan fell 31.65% compared with the same period last year, followed by SAIC and Geely, with a drop of more than 16%. The declines of Dongfeng, BAIC, FAW, Chery and Guangzhou Automobile are controlled in double digits. Brilliance is the only one that has achieved real growth, mainly due to the pull of brilliance BMW. Data show that brilliance sold 290500 vehicles in the first half of the year, while brilliance BMW accounted for more than 90% of sales, accounting for 262500 vehicles.

SAIC, one of the largest automobile groups in China, won the top sales position with 2.937 million vehicles in the first half of the year, but it is still difficult to cover up the impact of the weak car market. Although SAIC has repeatedly revived the market through parliamentary car purchases and price insurance, data show that SAIC's sales fell 16.62% in the first half compared with the same period last year, and 15.98% in June compared with the same period last year.

Specifically, subsidiaries of SAIC all experienced a decline in the level of subsidies in the first half of this year. Among them, SAIC-Volkswagen, SAIC-GM and SAIC-GM Wuling fell 9.94%, 12.91% and 29.19% respectively compared with the same period last year. Among them, SAIC GM Wuling began to decline all the way to the first half of this year, and its contribution rate to the group was only 25%, while SAIC Volkswagen ranked first with 31% contribution rate, but the sales of Tuguan and Tuang declined in the first half due to the weakening SUV market and the imperfect layout of new energy. SAIC GM's sales volume was revived in exchange for price, but the feasibility of a price war was the biggest question mark.

On July 15, Changan announced that the net profit for the first half of the year is expected to lose 19-2.6 billion yuan, down 218.04% and 261.53% from the same period last year. The loss is due to the decline in sales of all products. In the first half of this year, Changan's sales fell 31.56% from a year earlier, while independent brands recovered in June, but sales fell 26.07% in the first half compared with the same period last year. Changan Ford and Changan Mazda fell by 67% and 32.2% in the first half.

However, it is worth mentioning that the share price of Changan Automobile rose instead of falling, achieving an one-day increase of 7.54, its biggest one-day increase in the past two months.

The car market is depressed and volatile, with some growing against the trend and some falling again and again. Data show that independent brands and joint venture brands generally declined in the first half of the year, but some independent brands still achieved growth. On the other hand, the joint venture brands are polarized, such as German, legal, hopeless and so on. Relatively speaking, the performance of Japanese cars remained strong in the first half of the year.

Oriental Group accumulated sales of 1.3744 million in the first half of the year, down 8.99 per cent from the same period last year. Its two major cars, DPCA and Dongfeng Renault, completely collapsed, with a drop of 58.9% and 76%, but Dongfeng Honda is clearly driving sales.

The cumulative sales of Guangben and Guangfeng, both Japanese, were 395000 and 311000 respectively in the first half of the year, up 16.41 per cent and 21.86 per cent respectively over the same period last year. GAC Fick and GAC-Mitsubishi, which are pre-installed in sharp contrast, are different, with cumulative sales of 35800 and 63100 respectively in the first half. GAC MOTOR's sales in the first half of the year were 186900, down 300300 from the same period last year.

Geely accumulated sales of 651700 in the first half of the year, although it was the largest passenger car sales in China, down 14.99 per cent from the same period last year. Boyue sold 109714 vehicles in the first half of the year, down 21.12% from the same period last year. Dihao GS and several SUV models of the Vision series also continued to decline.

In addition, the high-end of Geely is not plain sailing. The data show that the growth rate of Lecker built by Geely and Volvo is slow, and the total sales of 01, 02 and 03 models are less than the monthly sales of Lecker 01 last year.

Independent brands do not perform well, but there are still many brands emerging as a new force. In the first half of this year, Chery's sales fell 5.25% from a year earlier, but its own brand grew 8.5% from a year earlier. Its shortcuts have an obvious pull on sales, and Ruihu and Aizeri are still the main sales force. After the replacement of the new generation of Ruihu 8, it sold 44200 in the first half of the year.

Of the nine auto groups sorted out, six released sales figures for the first half of the year and sales targets for 2019, but none of them did more than half the task in the first half of the year. Geely had the highest completion rate, but it lowered its sales target by 1.51 million to 1.36 million in early July. Among the other four groups, BAIC has a completion rate of 45.27%, followed by GAC and SAIC with 43.09% and 41.66%, respectively.

Judging from the trend of the whole year, the situation is still not optimistic. FIFA said that the May-June reply promotion disturbed the price trend of the car, and the terminal price needed to be repaired. The China Automobile Association also said that although the decline in the industry has narrowed compared with last year, automobile production and sales are still under tremendous pressure. Cars across the country have declined for 12 consecutive months compared with the same period last year and are expected to show negative growth for the whole year as a whole. In this case, whether the annual sales can be completed on schedule depends on whether the car companies can reverse the trend in the second half of the year.
