GAC GROUP announced that the leading cadres of the group headquarters and some enterprises will be adjusted from August 1. The main adjustments are as follows: Feng Xingya, general manager of GAC GROUP, concurrently served as chairman of GAC NE; Liu Wei, secretary of the party committee of GAC MOTOR, concurrently served as head of GAC GROUP's vehicle department; Hu Su, chairman of Dasheng Science and Technology, also served as head of GAC GROUP's data and information department; Zhang Yuesai, former chairman of Guangzhou Automobile Business and Trade, took over as general manager of GAC MOTOR. Yu Jun stepped down as chairman of New Energy and general manager of GAC MOTOR and became the head of GAC GROUP International Business Department.

With regard to this personnel adjustment, GAC GROUP said, "this is an important part of deepening organizational reform, which helps to further promote the reform of state-owned enterprises, establish and improve the modern enterprise system, and is an important guarantee for building a system and mechanism to promote high-quality economic development."

Focus: strengthen the development of independent brands

Judging from the list of adjustments issued by GAC GROUP, the top priority of this personnel adjustment is undoubtedly GAC MOTOR. The resignation of Yu Jun, the former general manager of GAC MOTOR, and the adjustment of many other key positions of GAC MOTOR inevitably remind people of GAC MOTOR's grim development situation this year.

According to GAC GROUP's recent June production and sales figures, GAC GROUP sold 1.0228 million vehicles in the first half of this year, thanks to sales from two Japanese joint ventures, Guangzhou Automobile Honda and Guangzhou Automobile Toyota, which rose 6.8 per cent in the first half from a year earlier. However, sales of its independent unit GAC MOTOR have fallen sharply, with GAC MOTOR's cumulative sales of 186947 vehicles in the first half of this year, down 30.3% from the same period last year.

Under the severe circumstances of the decline in GAC MOTOR's sales, GAC took the opportunity of the group's organizational reform to replace GAC MOTOR, which did not operate satisfactorily in the past three years. After all, its own brand is the focus of development that GAC strongly supports. This time, Zhang Yuesai, who is familiar with the development of independent brands, will take over as general manager of GAC MOTOR, which is expected to promote the development of GAC GROUP's independent brands.

Highlight: the promotion of GAC NE's status

Unlike Chuanqi, an independent brand with a severe decline in sales, the rapid rise of GAC NE is a bright spot in GAC GROUP's performance. From the point of view of the new personnel transfer, Feng Xingya, general manager of the group's "second leader" GAC GROUP, is also chairman of GAC NE, which is enough to see that the group attaches great importance to the new energy section.

Judging from GAC NE's sales performance, last year, GAC NE's annual sales exceeded 20, 000 vehicles even though there were only Chuanqi GE3 and Chuanqi GS4 PHEV, a four-fold increase over the same period last year, exceeding the annual sales target set by GAC. This year, with the blessing of its new model Aion S, GAC NE's sales may rise further.

For GAC GROUP, who is not early to enter the field of new energy, the rapid rise of GAC NE has made the group see its considerable prospects; and from the perspective of this personnel transfer, GAC NE's position in the group is growing day by day.

It is worth noting that FAW, SAIC, and Dongfeng all carried out a major personnel change at the top of their group not long ago; for the transfer of senior personnel by domestic automobile enterprises one after another, industry insiders believe that under the grim situation that the car market continues to decline, domestic automobile companies are trying to adjust their organizational structure in order to speed up integration with the international market and comply with the development trend of the market.
