When it comes to luxury brand car companies, the quality must have a certain level to support it. Maserati, once popular in China, is welcomed by many consumers. However, although Maserati has a good brand, the quality and reputation of the new car is not good, which also leads to its sales plummeting year after year.

According to information, Maserati is a luxury car brand founded in 1914 and became part of the FCA Group in 1993. Once upon a time, Maserati was loved by consumers for her excellent performance and luxurious workmanship. However, the recent recall announcement has cast a shadow over its brand image.

Maserati (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. has filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, according to a notice on the website of the defective Product Management Center of the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration. From now on, it will expand the recall of some imported 2014 and 2015 president and Geberit cars, a total of 40 vehicles.

It is worth noting that this recall is an expanded recall of the "Maserati (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. expanded recall of some imports of 2014 and 2015 President Geberit cars" issued on January 25, 2019. Earlier, Maserati had announced a recall of 4336 Geberit cars, the president of the 2014 and 2015 models.

In terms of the number of recalls, the two recalls involved a total of 4376 vehicles, which is not large compared to the tens of thousands of recalls made by other brands. However, it can be noted that Maserati sold only about 7500 vehicles in China in 2015, meaning that the recall reached about 58 per cent of its 2015 sales in China.

For Maserati's first SUV:Levante can be said to be a bid car, the logo is a hell of a Western culture Trident, but Maserati's, whether it is the Levante or higher-end president, Geberit and other models, its quality is poor. The failure rate of 100 cars is the lowest in the authoritative "Consumer report" and Jd power survey in the United States.

Many Levante owners said that the comprehensive level of fuel consumption of 100 kilometers has never been lower than 17 liters, which is already very high for such a luxury car with an engine of 3.0T. And the design of its rear headlamp is too cheap, and the interior material is not even better than the 140000 yuan Geely GE. Some car owners also reported that on rainy days, the car leaked, gearbox noise and setbacks, maintenance costs comparable to Bentley.

Because of this, it not only affects the sales of the Maserati, but also affects the profits of the FCA Group, because Maserati is currently the highest-margin brand in the entire FCA Fiat Chrysler Group.

According to the 2018 financial report released by FCA Group, Maserati sold 35000 cars to retail consumers in 2018, down 28% from the same period last year. This is due to the decline in Maserati's sales in China and other key markets.

Compared with 2017, the decline in Maserati's sales in 2018 was mainly due to a 52% decline in the Chinese market, 26% in North America and 21% in Europe, the FCA Group said in its financial report.

In 2019, the situation has not improved. According to the quarterly report released by FCA Group, Maserati sold 5500 vehicles in the first quarter, down 41.5% from 9400 in the same period last year. Officials explained that the main reason was the decline in production at Levante and Geberit, as well as the impact of planned inventory management actions. FCA also attributed Maserati's poor performance to the decline in sales in the Chinese market.

In addition, as one of Maserati's core selling points, Ferrari engines have always been the capital to show off. Louis Camilleri, Ferrari's CEO, said on the brand's earnings call in the first quarter of 2019 that when Ferrari's pre-engine supply contract with Maserati expires, it will not renew its engine supply contract with Maserati, including V6 and V8 engines.

This will undoubtedly make Maserati's future development even more difficult. And now Maserati, whose main battlefield is at home, it is not easy to get out of the predicament. Today, FCA has accumulated a lot of experience as Nike's operations expert by hiring Davyd as its chief operating officer. But it remains to be seen whether Maserati can be revived by such a "cross-line" COO that manages cars.
