Behind the layoffs, the financial situation of NIO Motor is not optimistic. Its company has been in a state of loss for three consecutive quarters: in the third quarter of 2018, its operating income was 1.47 billion yuan, with a net loss of 2.8104 billion yuan. The loss increased by 56.6% compared with the previous quarter. In the fourth quarter of 2018, the net loss of NIO Motor was 3.503 billion yuan, an increase of 20% over the loss in the third quarter. In the first quarter of 2019, the sales of Lulai Motor was 1.5352 billion yuan, down 54.6 percent from the previous month, and the net loss was 2.6236 billion yuan, an increase of 71.4 percent over the same period last year.

And a number of spontaneous combustion incidents in NIO this year have caused a huge blow to its brand image, making consumers question the safety performance of its products. Due to the pressure and impact of the spontaneous combustion recall on its sales and funds, it still needs a huge investment to complete the substantial increase in delivery volume in the context of a substantial reduction in subsidies.
