AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)08/03 Report--

With the increasingly stringent environmental regulations, global car companies are accelerating the trend of electrification, in addition, large-displacement engines will also be replaced by small-displacement supercharged engines. There are fewer and fewer models of V6, V8 and even W12 engines on the market, which are replaced by new energy ways such as gas-electric hybrid and pure electric, so as to reduce the emission value of enterprises and avoid huge fines.

Under this trend, some high-displacement engine models will also face the fate of being eliminated. Recently, foreign media have pointed out that BMW is considering fully reducing emissions of the next generation of flagship 7-Series, abandoning V8 and V12 engines, and launching electric versions at the same time.

Foreign media BMW blog reported that the replacement of the BMW 7-Series will no longer have V8 and V12 engines and will instead use the 3.0T in-line six-cylinder turbocharged engine + motor power configuration, which is said to be the highest power configuration of the new BMW 7-Series.

At present, the highest specification of the BMW 7-Series is the M760Li model with 6.6T V12 engine, which is priced at 2.428 million yuan. The second is the model with 4.4T V8 engine and 4.0T V8 engine. The relatively low configurations are 3.0T L6 and 2.0T four-cylinder models.

If the foreign media revelations are true, the V12 and V8 engines carried by the current BMW 7-Series will disappear, a plug-in hybrid system will be added to the 3.0T L6 model, and the power output specification will reach 566 horsepower and 800 Nm.

In addition, the next generation of BMW 7-Series will also launch a pure electric version. According to the BMW blog, the next generation of all-electric BMW 7 Series is under development, with an internal code name i7 and a range expected to exceed 434 miles (700 km).

Foreign media expect a new generation of BMW 7-Series to hit the market in late 2021 or early 2022.

As the flagship model of the luxury brand, the BMW 7-Series first launched the low-engine 2.0T model, which was miserable by netizens at that time, and then the Mercedes-Benz S-Class also announced to join. At present, the Audi A8 still has no intention of launching a smaller 2.0T model. As BMW cancels high-engine models, it is conceivable that small engines and electrification will be the mainstream of the future, and the era of high-engine engines will soon come to an end.

In the popular market, with the large-scale popularization and application of three-cylinder engine, the electrification trend is accelerated, and consumers have to accept the evolution of the market trend.
