According to relevant media reports, Japan's Suzuki Motor released financial results on the 5th, showing that the company's net profit in the first quarter of 2019 (April-June 2019) decreased by 53% to 40.5 billion yen compared with the same period last year. Mainly affected by the decline in domestic production in Japan and sales in the Indian market.

Suzuki sales fell 8 per cent to 907.5 billion yen in the first quarter of fiscal 2019 compared with the same period last year, while operating profit fell 46 per cent to 62.6 billion yen from a year earlier, according to the data. Global car sales fell 14 per cent to 738000 units compared with the same period last year, including a 20 per cent drop in India and a 4 per cent decline in Japan. But world motorcycle sales rose 7 per cent year-on-year to 454000.

Although Suzuki kept its profit forecast for fiscal 2019 unchanged. However, the company said that at present, the operating outlook is more grim than expected, and new earnings forecasts will be released in the future based on new developments.

At present, Suzuki is betting all its business on the Indian market. Suzuki, as the king of cars, is very popular in India, winning the top three sales in 2018, with Suzuki Dzire winning the top three by selling 260000 units. Suzuki Otto sold 250000 units of this Dzire alone, while Suzuki Swift, in third place, also sold 220000 units, with great success.

Suzuki's lineup, which includes only gasoline, diesel and mild hybrids, accounts for more than 50% of the Indian market and is the leading car brand. So the Indian market is also Suzuki's largest single market in the world.

Suzuki is not suitable for the development of Suzuki in a sparsely populated area like the United States, so Suzuki planned to withdraw from the North American market as early as 2012.

In the Chinese market, Suzuki also announced in September last year that it would decide to withdraw from the Chinese market altogether.

But Changan acquired Suzuki and Suzuki's 50% stake in Suzuki in China. After the acquisition, Changan holds a 100% stake in Changan Suzuki.

According to the agreement, after Changan Automobile completes the equity acquisition, Changan Suzuki will continue to introduce new Suzuki products through authorization. Changan Suzuki will continue to produce and sell Suzuki products, all brands and after-sales service remain unchanged, and continue to provide Suzuki users with after-sales repair and maintenance services for vehicles and spare parts.

The news also caused an uproar, and many people thought that Suzuki must not be able to survive in China, so they had no choice but to withdraw from China to protect themselves. However, this is not the case. After Suzuki withdrew from China, sales not only did not fall, but also increased a lot, mainly because small cars could not meet the needs of the Chinese people.
