AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)08/06 Report--
According to US Automotive News, cumulative sales of luxury cars in the US reached 137945 in July, up 4.97 per cent from a year earlier. Among them, Lexus won the top spot this month with sales of 25025 vehicles, while the sales of the top three German BBA followed closely, accounting for more than half of the market share.
Lexus rarely wins the championship.
In recent years, with the continuous updating and iteration of Mercedes-Benz and BMW products, the dominant position of Lexus in the US luxury car market has also changed frequently, with Mercedes-Benz and BMW taking turns. Lexus's cumulative sales in July reached 25025, thanks to strong sales of its crossover SUV RX in July, beating last month's champion BMW and previous rival Mercedes-Benz to the top of the luxury sales list. However, from the sales data, from January to July this year, the cumulative sales of Lexus was 160760 vehicles, up 0.2% from the same period last year, while its July sales fell 1.5% from the same period last year. It is still difficult for Lexus to retain its title in the future.
The top three German cars are still the main force of luxury cars.
As the leader in the luxury car market, the top three German BBA is popular not only in the Chinese market, but also in the American luxury car market. In July, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi sold 24612, 23015 and 19370 vehicles respectively in the United States, with sales increasing to varying degrees compared with the same period last year. Mercedes-Benz had the largest increase of 22.9%, while BMW and Audi increased by 4.7% and 0.8%, respectively.
Sales of luxury cars in Japan generally fell.
Compared with the top three German cars, which account for most of the luxury car market in the United States, the sales of the top three Japanese luxury cars fell to varying degrees in July this year. Among them, sales of Lexus and Acura fell 1.5% and 3.7% respectively compared with the same period last year, while Infiniti's sales fell 11.2% in July from a year earlier, and its sales from January to July fell 12.5% from a year earlier, making it the brand with the biggest decline on the list.
The performance of second-tier luxury car brands is mediocre
As second-tier luxury brands, the performance of Volvo, Jaguar and Land Rover is mediocre, with Volvo and Land Rover selling 8795 and 6456 vehicles respectively in July, up 2 per cent and 4 per cent, respectively, compared with the same period last year. Jaguar sold a total of 2020 vehicles in July, which is dismal.
The supercar brand increased greatly, and Gaines became the biggest dark horse.
In addition, as synonymous with supercars, Lamborghini and McLaren sold 232 and 180 cars in July, respectively, which is up 85.6% and 69.8%, respectively, compared with the same period last year. As a luxury car brand owned by Hyundai, Gaines sold 1586 vehicles in July, up 157.9% from a year earlier, making it the biggest dark horse on the list.
It is worth mentioning that in the US luxury car sales ranking in July, only three brands showed a decline in sales, while the rest increased to varying degrees. This shows that the headwind facing the US luxury car market seems to have eased.
