BYD released sales figures for July, down nearly 17 per cent from a year earlier to 30985 vehicles. Of these, sales of new energy vehicles were 16567, down 11.84 per cent from a year earlier and nearly 10, 000 fewer than in June, while fuel vehicle sales were 14418, down 22.16 per cent from a year earlier.

It is worth mentioning that July was the first decline in both BYD-branded fuel vehicles and new energy vehicles this year. BYD's fuel vehicles have continued to decline in recent months, and new energy vehicles are largely related to the new policy of subsidized slope reduction that began on June 25, leading to fluctuations in sales in July.

According to the previous sales statistics in July, BYD's new energy vehicles increased greatly, while fuel vehicles fell sharply. BYD sold 162220 new energy models from January to July, up 73.17 per cent from the same period last year, while fuel vehicles sold 96837 vehicles from January to July, down 42.41 per cent from the same period last year.

The cumulative sales of the BYD brand reached 259057 in July 2019, down 1.05% from the same period last year and 39.85% of the target of 650000.

BYD has made great progress in new energy, with a big increase in sales, and the obvious retrogression of fuel vehicles, which is in line with Chairman Wang Chuanfu's proposal of "gradually banning the sale of fuel vehicles to achieve comprehensive electrification."

Wang Chuanfu suggested that the state should promote the all-round electrification of cars into the city as soon as possible, with buses fully electrified in 2020, taxis fully electrified in 2022, urban logistics and special vehicles fully electrified in 2025, and private cars gradually electrified in 2030.

He also suggested that under the current huge downward situation of traditional cars, we should further restrict the gradual realization of a total ban on the sale of traditional fuel vehicles, and unswervingly support the full electrification of new energy vehicles.
