A few days ago, GAC Honda Automobile Co., Ltd. filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration in accordance with the requirements of the Regulations on the Administration of Recall of Defective Automobile Products and the Measures for the Implementation of the Regulations on the Administration of Recall of Defective Automobile Products. Since August 30,2019, some domestic Accord models equipped with 1.5T turbocharged engines have been recalled, totaling 222674 vehicles.

Scope of recall:

A total of 222674 domestic Accord models equipped with 1.5T turbocharged engines produced between July 25,2017 and August 7,2019.

Reason for recall:

Due to the design of air flow rate at the outlet of intercooler of engine, when the vehicle is driving in high temperature and high humidity environment such as heavy rain, a small amount of condensed water may accumulate at the outlet of intercooler. In this case, condensed water droplets may be sucked into combustion chamber during rapid acceleration, resulting in engine misfire. In extreme cases, the engine may enter protection mode, resulting in limited acceleration during driving, etc. There are potential safety hazards.

Solution:

Guangqi Honda Automobile Co., Ltd. will install free devices to optimize the outlet air flow rate of intercoolers for vehicles within the scope of recall to eliminate potential safety hazards.

Emergency measures: Before vehicle recall and maintenance, users shall drive carefully when driving under heavy rain conditions. When vehicle acceleration is found to be limited, they shall stop at the side in time. After flameout and restart of vehicle, engine protection mode shall be released, and vehicle can be restored to normal use. Users should contact their dealer as soon as possible after the recall begins to make an appointment for repair.
